We need to get back to basics and ride against the grain. Bad day yesterday but let’s get back on track tonight.
Columbus continues to play well and the books continue to downplay them. Not winning the over 6 with five goals from them last night was infuriating. Their team total pregame was set to 2.5 and I contemplated playing it. The logic was that if Columbus was going to hit their total of three, the Leafs were going to score as well and put us on the game over. Tonight, Columbus team total is set even less against a team they scored less than two goals in twice in their last nine. I’m going to attack this three ways. The team total at 1.5 is already at -200, meaning it should become available live a few minutes into the game. If you want to hedge yourself on a few final scores of Carolina 3-1 / 4-1 / 5-1 the lowest payout you will get is +1200 if you use Fanduel. Columbus should pepper shots on net as well. The Jackets are averaging 29.5 shots per game and are eighth overall in total shots this season. Freddy Andersen’s saves are in play as well.
If Patrick Kane was in the lineup for the Wings i would be more intrigued to play the over in this game. i also don’t want to lay -160 for the Habs team total pregame. This is a game that can be hit live when one of the totals drops and I will keep an eye on it. Pregame I am interested in Patrik Laine. Detroit is second worst in the league on the PK and heading into the Lightning game Laine had the Habs last 10 power play goals. Detroit doesn’t give up many opportunities on the power play but when they do they struggle. This is a great spot for Laine not only on the power play but 5 on 5 as well. He has dominated since his return.
