Dallas has the edge here at home. Both teams are dealing with significant injuries to their stars (Ovechkin & Seguin). The Dallas money line of -150 is lower than I expected so I am willing to jump on it small for a unit. If this game is high scoring it should be one sided in Dallas’ favor. Tonight will be a light night with three heavy matchups between six top teams. These are slates I like to sit back and play lightly heading into a bigger Tuesday slate. Monday Night Football is also on so we have action there. Dallas should play a slow lock down game against Washington and see a 3-1/3-2/4-2 type final. One unit or less on their money line is enough for me and not enough to stress losing.
Florida and Edmonton meet in the first rematch since last seasons Stanley Cup Final. Florida led the series 3-0 before Edmonton came back with the next three and forced a game 7. I have no interest in this game. Absolutely zero interest. If you want to watch a pure hockey game and enjoy the sport for what it can be then watch here.
Colorado’s goaltending is in disarray. Alexi Georgiev and Justus Annunen are gone. Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood are in. Blackwood and Wedgewood were teammates in New Jersey back in 2021 and should serve as a more consistent pairing but still not what they need. If anything, they have a better pool of trade bait to upgrade even further. Blackwood comes in with a 5-3 record against the Canucks and a 2.46 GAA but those number are inflated by his first 5 starts against the Canucks while he was with the Devils. In those 5 starts he gave up a total of five goals before giving up 16 goals in his next 4 starts as a member of the Sharks. For me, I don’t think Colorado is a -135 favorite tonight. It’s low and it’s playable but they’re on the road with enormous question marks in net. If I had to play this game I’m taking the plus money on Vancouvers money line or I’m splashing the over and just hoping for an offensive shootout. I don’t like Monday nights in hockey so I’m not handcuffing myself units wise.
