Today’s article is going to just be more direct bullet points on what I expect from each game.
Montreal vs. Boston:
- Both teams should have opposite outcomes from their opening game.
- Boston was embarrassed by the Panthers on Tuesday and Montreal has been a great matchup for them. If Boston is a serious team this year they will need to win this game and not fall behind.
Los Angeles vs. Buffalo:
- Don’t be surprised if Buffalo starts 0-3.
- The Kings are a down team this year.
- Both matchups last year put up goals and both overs hit. Buffalo did not look well at all in Prague to feel confident in their offense. Los Angeles could have a slow game as well.
- Not a game I will be on
Toronto vs. New Jersey:
- I expect the same flipped narrative in this matchup too.
- Travel should affect the Devils here going to and from Prauge.
- Toronto is coming off a shutout loss to the Canadians last night. That game had enough opportunities to score 10 goals. Neither team cashed in. I think both teams looked good, it wasn’t sloppy. The finishes just weren’t there.
- That being said, Toronto should carry good play into tonight. They should definitely clean up the penalties and we should see goals from them tonight.
- Sheldon Keefe faces his former team.
Florida vs. Ottawa:
- Florida won all four meetings last year and 14 of 17.
- Florida looked incredible against Boston and it will difficult to replicate. I plan to see how their first few games to see what effect the offseason and fre agency had on them.
Utah vs. New York Islanders:
- Utah was set up with a nice opening night opponent to boost the likelihood of a win.
- The Islanders will be a very different test for them tonight and it should go the Islanders way.
- The Utah Hockey Club are the Arizona Coyotes + free agency
Pittsburgh vs. Detroit:
- Goals tonight
