I am glad we stayed off last night’s slate. Outside of the two early games, the rest of the slate would not have been the way I would have wanted to go. Tonight’s slate is more opportune for us and it begins where we left on Tuesday with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tampa Bay netted us 12 units on Tuesday with a 5-3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. With two days rest and no travel, the Lightning get the St. Louis Blues at home. The ML is a parlay piece tonight at -225. The Blues and Lightning line up on opposite ends of the field offensively and defensively heading into this matchup. While the Blues have increased their play since the hire of Jim Montgomery, they are averaging a goal and a half less per game than the Lightning are. If Vasilevskiy is in net tonight we will be more inclined to play this game multiple ways. The Lightning are giving up a goal per game less than the Blues defensively and will play a more up tempo offensive game while solidifying the defensive end of the game. The Blues have won two of the last three matchups between the two and six of the last ten. I usually tend to avoid out of conference games but Tampa Bay is dominating their less than equal competition over the past two weeks winning five of six and averaging six goals per game over that span scoring no less than 4 in each of them. While an offensive outpouring is possible tonight for the Lightning, I prefer to get this total at 3 or better. St. Louis likes to play slow games and will try and limit the open ice for the Lightning but the speed and skill of the Lightning should be able to get them to a 3 or 4 goal game with a win.
The Devils, like the Lightning, have been taking care of their most recent sub par opponents and they get a very favorable matchup tonight with the Columbus Blue Jackets. We will continue our trend of attacking the Jackets here taking New Jersey on the road. The Devils are the far superior team and will be their own worst enemies in this game. Elvis Merzlikins is 3-3-2 against the Devils in his career with a 3.02 GAA. The Devils have scored 3 or more in 9 of their last 10 against the Jackets winning seven of them. This is my favorite play of the night. I’m expecting big output from Jack Hughes and will be playing his goal and points props.
Seattle has lost two in a row. Chicago has won two in a row. Seattle has scored 3 ore more in their last seven against the Hawks. The Kraken are missing Jordan Eberle. They’ just traded for Kappo Kakko from the Rangers. I’m playing the 2.5 based on history. It’s nothing in depth analytical wise but this is where you trust the hockey Gods that Seattle gets right and continues their dominance over the Hawks.
