Chicago has lost seven of nine. I am a firm believer in sophomore slumps and Connor Bedard is slumping. Over 25 games Bedard has 5 goals and 14 assists for a -10 rating on the year. Petr Mrazek has been a bright spot for the Blackhawks. Mrazek’s win/loss record is irrelevant on a team that is dead last in the league (8-15-2) but his 2.79 GAA and .908 keeps Chicago in the middle of the pack defensively. Their special teams are mid tier as well. Mrazek will be in net tonight against a Boston team whose offense has struggled as well, which we have documented. Boston is 10-3 in their last 13 matchups against the Hawks and I expect that to continue tonight. Boston is coming off a back to back which they’ve played only twice this season and won both games on the back end. Unless Chicago scores a minimum of 3 goals tonight this should be Boston’s game from start to finish. Mrazek is 4-4-1 with a 3.29 GAA against Boston in his career. If this game goes off the rails we can jump on the over live, but this should be a 2-1/3-1 type game in the third period.
Toronto’s team total is -200 to get 2.5 right now. With how bad Nashville has been for us during the year I think these lines are too low and Toronto should be able to dominate this game. The ML should be closer to -170 so we will be taking the -135 pregame line and getting the 2.5 team total live a few minutes into the game.
