10/31 NHL Plays

Hey Everyone,

Happy Halloween. I hope you and your families stay safe today. We only have three NHL games on tap, so we will also have another article coming for tomorrow.

I wont be making a play on the Colorado/Vegas game. These are matchups I tend to avoid as I don’t feel there’s really any value here. If Vegas was favored I would have taken Colorado at plus money but they’re not, so we move on. This should be an evenly matched game with too many outcomes possible. If you want something to dabble on take a look at the 3 way tie line +325 or better. Both teams have played a significant amount of their games in overtime this season already and three of their last four matchups have gone to OT/SO.

The Islanders Capitals matchup gives me more interest. These two typically play higher scoring games, but -155 for 5.5 is a lot to lay. Tom Wilson tends to get on the scoreboard against the Islanders, and Ovechkin broke the scoring record against them. Wilson is -185 for over .5 points so consider him for a SGP, with the over if you are looking to dabble. I don’t love tonight’s slate, but the Islanders are coming off two disappointing losses losing to the Flyers in OT and then blowing a 2-0 lead to the Bruins, and then getting toyed with by the Hurricanes last night. Expect some kind of fire from them tonight, but that could also result in no goals and giving up an easy one after pressing.

The game I want to be on tonight is Detroit and Anaheim. The Ducks are scoring this year and Detroit is a tick ahead of them both averaging 3.44/3.45 goals per game while also giving up 3+ per game. John Gibson is facing his former team tonight so this can go very well or very badly. Gibson is +1200 to pitch a shutout and +125 to give up less than 3 goals, so feel free to splash this as a semi hedge. This is a game that could go to the mood and if we start early we should start hitting live. Let’s ladder a little and expect a wide open offensive game with both goalies getting roughed up.
