Monday 10/14 NHL Plays

Good evening everyone!

We have an eight game slate tonight starting at 7 pm. We are coming off a massive Saturday, followed by a single game slate on Sunday we sat out. We split our early plays yesterday during the holiday, and get back to a regular set tonight.

We start with Nashville heading into Toronto and this game would have been a pregame fade for me, but both teams will have their backups in net. Nashville was a team without an identity coming into the season. The Preds made the biggest splashes in free agency two seasons ago just to miss the playoffs. They currently rank 21st in goals per game in the league but are 2-0-1 sitting a game behind the Avs atop the Central Division, in part of Juuse Saros’ 1.64 GAA. Toronto is averaging 3.33 goals per game but are coming off a back to back in which they gave up the deciding goal in the final minute of the game against the Wings. Justus Annunen is an absolute gas can in my opinion so this game should have goals. I think the Leafs get back in the win column and Nashville has their first 60 minute loss on the year.

There’s not much else I like during the 7 pm games. Seattle and Montreal play higher scoring games so I’m going to expect the trend to continue. The game should be open and cause some problems for each goaltender. I don’t expect the lineups in front of each netminder to help their cause, so this is less about attacking the goalies in net as opposed to attacking the defenses. Seattle is only averaging one goal against per game so look for reality to set in here and them to give up three plus. Montreal opened the season giving up five to Toronto, but have given up only three in their last two games bringing their goals against per game down to 2.67 per game. Those two games giving up three goals were against Detroit and Chicago; a Chicago team averaging 2.5 goals per game, and a Detroit team who’s scored nine goals in two games against the Leafs. I expect Montreal to come out on top in this game in a 4-2/4-3/5-3 type fashion, so jumping on the 5.5 for -145 is a target.

For the late games I’m going to stick to an out of conference matchup. Anaheim comes is as the favorite over the Penguins which I think is wrong. Beckett Se
