Hey everyone,
We have a ten game slate and have some favorable targets. The San Jose Sharks have yet to win a game this season and head through a Metro area road trip against the Islanders, Devils, and Rangers. The Isles have won five of the last six matchups against the Sharks and have scored four or more goals in each of them. I don’t trust the Isles enough to consider them tonight. I would rather wait until the third period and look for an empty net situation, but even that is risky. The one thing the Islanders are good for is giving up goals to players who haven’t score in the NHL yet, or in a while. Look for Barclay Goodrow to score his first goal on the year, or Michael Misa or Will Smith to score their first career goals tonight.
The Canucks and Penguins hopefully play the wide open game I expect them to play. Goals in this game should come, and will be my first target to get right on the Wild/Flyers miss from the other night. Both teams are giving up less than three goals per game which goes against the expected total tonight, but both offenses are averaging over three. Kevin Lankinen and Artus Silvos are in net for both teams and that should help boost the offensive production.
Seattle is coming off a loss last night getting drubbed by the Flyers. They face a Capitals team they’ve dropped the last three to. The Kraken are without Jared McCann again and will start Philip Grubbauer in net against the team he won a cup with as their backup. I don’t really have interest in this matchup and think it can go either way in term of the total. I lean the Caps and the under but the -250 price tag isn’t worth it.
The Devils are on fire right now and are being under valued. They are 4-1 beating Tampa, Edmonton, Florida, and Columbus. Sheldon Keefe faces his former team and has yet to beat them. There should be goals in this game and like that we get 5.5 at only -120. I’m going to play this game just to have some action on it, but will be watching it closely for live. This game can climb a ladder and score some empty net goals at the end.
The Oilers look like shit and need a win. They’ve lost four of six, blew a 3-0 opening night lead to the Flames, and have lost three road games in a row against Eastern Conference teams. Their two wins came against a Rangers team who have scored one goal in four matchups at home and the Canucks. Ottawa is without Brady Tkachuk and just blew multiple leads against the Islanders on Saturday. I’m laying into Edmonton’s total tonight and their ML. This needs to be a get right game for them without question. If they can’t go into Ottawa and score three or more goals and win then they are in complete trouble.
I’m going to stop here with this much in play for the 7 pm slate. We can move onto the 8 pm games once we screen the first period in these games and know what our pace is like on both games. For 8 pm and later we will be looking at the Dallas Stars at home against the Blue Jackets.
